Memories
I am proud to present my experiences at St.Patrick’s College through the new Website some of the memories of the past and resent make me mention that there are vast changes and development throughout. The infrastructure is the best-seen development I should thank our Bishop Vianney Fernando and the Principals & Rectors who were behind these changes. With one Building, adjoined classrooms and crowded proved the standards as the best school which had a high quality of English and cultural performance. Dramas and dances were commented by everyone who witnessed it.
Then the College was gifted an additional building. The Office and senior classes were shifted to it. This gave another growth to the College. The number of students and teachers were increased. Then the College was gifted with the present existing large building which had separated rooms for each class, laboratory, IT room, etc. These infrastructure facilities were added with a new Rector. He brought vast variations to the whole infrastructure and education. As a result numbers on the role, education performance, and extra-curricula activities improved to a large reality.
Again the fourth new building gave much more honor to St. Patrick’s with the additional facilities the Quality of Education, involvement of the Community/Society, assessment, and concern from the Department of Education gave much more fame to the institution. Already we have March forward as the best result holder at the GCE (O/L) examination in the current year in Nuwara-Eliya Tamil Division 01. We can assure you that in near future we will be the leading school in the province and country.
There is a unique structure called STUDENT UNION based on every subject. There are some special activities carried out by them and students are brought up with constructive knowledge. Their activities are done annually such as planned completion to deepen their ability on self-studies, subject-related exhibition, stage program, quiz, etc. This has benefited the students for their performance at exams and other education-related activities in the college and outside. The College has its own culture such as daily Holy Mass, as catholic school Christian values are entrusted, reciting Noon angelus, and formation for priesthood leads towards the ambition of our Bishop. Although it’s a catholic school other religions are given similar importance. Teachers are supposed to give assignments to the relevant class when she/he is on leave which is carried out by a teacher who is on relief duty. Teachers are supposed to enter their leave on a specific Board this makes them aware that those who are on leave are only two are allowed to take leave in a day. I am happy to be a member of this College staff.
